Hello, and welcome to Sophie’s Healthy Kitchen… My name is Sophie Bertrand, I have a BSc degree in Psychology, an MSc in Nutrition and Eating Disorders and am registered with the Association for Nutrition as a Registered Nutritionist (RNutr).
Eating for health is extremely important, and something I am incredibly passionate about… However, so is eating for ENJOYMENT! There are so many different aspects of our health that we need to be aware of: a healthy heart, healthy kidneys, healthy liver, strong bones, mental health…. The list goes on. But with all this research flying around, ‘diet culture’ seems to have taken over and made us forget that were actually supposed to be enjoying food – not avoiding it!
Now, a ‘diet’ is not a term I use for weight loss. The media tell us that a diet is something someone goes on when trying to lose weight. However, it is actually a term used to describe the kinds of food one eats. We shouldn’t be ‘dieting’ to lose weight, we should be looking at our diet and asking ourselves: ‘Is my body getting all the essential nutrients it needs?’ AND – ‘I am enjoying what I am eating’… Because food should make us feel good too!
Here you can find simple recipes that are as delicious as they are nutritious! ‘Sophie’s Healthy Kitchen’, refers to a healthy relationship with food and I do not promote any kind of ‘fad’ or ‘detox’ diets that encourage restriction of foods. I simply encourage healthy and well balanced eating.
As part of my work as a Qualified Nutritionist, I work with clients in a one-to-one setting at the Rhitrition Clinic on Harley St, providing evidence based nutrition to help them achieve their nutrition related goals in a safe environment.
Hey Sophie I would love to hear how your niche works. I am currently pursuing my passion in Life and Health Coaching. I will be certified by the end of the year. I believe it’s good to form contacts in your field. My niche I believe with be body image and maybe Career and Life balance. My degree was Finance and Business and I was a Business Banker for 17 years before having my 3rd child almost a 1 1/2 ago. Body issues definitely reared their ugly head soon after having my son but doing this certification has truly been a healing process.
